Stanford Medical School has taken the opportunity to analyze the success and progress of what is known as the pedometer. This is a tool, which helps to track and record your walking and exercise goals. These researchers found this tool actually helps increase how much people walk. The researchers involved in this study analyzed closely 26 different studies done over the years involving 2,767 people. The results they found were quite simple. Those who used a pedometer to create and track their walking goals walked at least 2,000 more steps than those who did not use a pedometer to create goals. This is a substantial difference and one that can greatly affect your health. From the results of their analysis and research, it is clear that the pedometer is a simple product that may help motivate people enough to not only create their walking goals but stick to them as well. For the average person this is a great advantage, especially if exercise is not currently part of your daily routine. There are so many people out there today who know they should and need to be exercising but they have no motivation to get going and keep going. This is where the pedometer becomes a great tool and resource. Everyone loves the feeling when goals are met and with this being said; why not meet your exercise goals each and every day? A pedometer is a small device, which is generally worn around your waist for best results. It counts each step you take by measuring the impact of your foot each and every time it hits the ground. These devices vary in price greatly from $5-$50 depending on how high-tech you want it to be. As you can imagine the success of the pedometer and your walking goals is directly connected to your weight management and other areas of your health. This study has found the connection between weight loss and systolic blood pressure. If these areas of your health can be affected than so can your cholesterol levels and of course a decreased risk of heart disease and so much more. Men and women today do not realize just how much exercising regularly can positively affect their health. The more you do not exercise the harder it becomes to get into the habit but it is not a lost cause. By investing in a pedometer you have more of a reason and motivation to get out there and walk. You start off slow and go around the block or down the street and increase your goal for how many steps per walk each time you go out. You will be amazed just how much motivation this really is. Take advantage of this incredibly affordable tool and see what it can do for you. If this is all it takes to get you out and walking, it is a worthwhile investment. |
