The single-celled fungus known as candida albicans is always present in the genital and intestinal tracts. In unbalanced quantities however, its presence cause infection. Some of the forms in which the candida infection manifests itself include vaginitis, thrush & diaper rash. Long-term antibiotic use poses a high risk for severe cases of candidiasis. The wide array of symptoms associated with this condition can often cause it to be misdiagnosed.
